Privacy Policy

Common Language Summary

At BoxLock we take security very seriously, including information security and our customers' privacy. Using your BoxLock does not expose any personally identifiable information to BoxLock or our partners, other than what's needed for us to ensure your BoxLock works. We collect and store your name, email, delivery address and functional details about the shipments you received, such as sender, size, weight, and tracking number.

When you choose to setup BoxLock’s Effortless Tracking feature, we use the shipment notifications coming to your email account from the 4 major US shipping carriers (USPS, Fedex, UPS, Amazon) to understand which tracking numbers should be allowed to open your lock. In order to do this, we ask that you grant the BoxLock System access to your email. You have several options to grant this access, including Google OAuth, IMAP server connection or use of an email forwarder. If you connect your email account, the BoxLock Services will automatically access and analyze the contents of emails in your email account on an ongoing basis for the purpose of identifying emails from shipping companies that may contain package tracking information. Once identified, the tracking information is then extracted from your emails into your BoxLock Services account so that you and your BoxLock device may access this information to determine if a package scan is valid.

BoxLock’s system only parses emails from known shipping carriers and only collects information about these packages for the purpose of ensuring your BoxLock works as designed. No other data is stored in our systems. Only the BoxLock System has access to your inbox through a strict ruleset - no human has the ability to see anything other than the package data returned by the system.

BoxLock has no interest in any other information in your inbox. BoxLock does not know anything about the contents of the shipments that are delivered to you. BoxLock can be used without Effortless Tracking by manually adding tracking numbers through the app.
